IMPORTANT INFORMATION, READ BEFORE PICKUP:

Please call ahead to us at (828) 470-7759 before coming to retrieve your vehicle. Our lots are open Monday-Friday from 9-4, but we can almost always make arrangements to accommodate an after hours release for you.

Documentation Requirements for Impounded Vehicles

To retrieve an impounded vehicle or any property from inside a vehicle, proof of ownership is required. Please review the following policies carefully before arriving at the lot:

Vehicle & Property Release Requirements

To retrieve a vehicle or personal property from a vehicle, the registered owner must be physically present and provide:

  • A physical, valid and government-issued photo ID, and

  • One of the following documents in their name:

    • Vehicle registration, or

    • Vehicle title

Proof of insurance is not accepted as proof of ownership. Insurance policies can be issued to anyone without confirming vehicle ownership.

Driving the Vehicle Off the Lot

If the impounded vehicle is being driven out under its own power, the following conditions must be met:

  • The vehicle must have a valid license plate (tag)

  • The vehicle must be insured

  • The driver must have a valid driver’s license

If the registered owner does not have a valid driver’s license, they must bring someone who does in order to legally remove the vehicle.

Towing the Vehicle

Vehicles can be towed out of the lot by:

  • Our company, or

  • A licensed third-party towing company

No insurance or valid registration is required if the vehicle is being towed from the premises. Proof of Ownership is still required.

Releasing the Vehicle Without the Owner Present

If the registered owner is unable to be present, they may authorize another person to retrieve the vehicle or property by completing a Notarized Authorization Form.

Requirements:

  • The form must be fully completed and notarized

  • The authorized person must present:

    • A valid government-issued photo ID

    • The notarized form completed by the owner

    • A copy of the vehicle’s title or registration listing the owner’s name

Important Reminders

  • We cannot release any vehicle or personal property without proper documentation

  • No exceptions will be made to these policies

  • Additional fees may apply depending on storage duration or services rendered

Please be kind to our staff. Understand that they are not the person responsible for your vehicle being towed, and our willingness to work with you on your bill or accommodate an after hours release is usually dependent on the way we are treated. We’re sorry you’re in this situation, but appreciate your understanding that we are only doing what we have been hired to do. All documentation we require for the release of your vehicle is required by law. We will do everything in our power to work with you to get your vehicle back as quickly as possible!
